Don’t Miss the Good Stuff

My son "packing" for our camping trip.

It is so easy to spend every extra moment you have working on growing your business.

If you’re not careful, it will end up taking over your entire life, sucking away the moments that are truly worth living.

We’ve all been there – the late night editing session, the tax-season craziness, working over lunch breaks.

But if we’re not careful, we’ll end up making this business more important than the things that really matter in our lives.

What are your real priorities?

For me it’s my family and enjoying them as they grow up.

I can’t remember the last time I took two full days off in a row without working a full-time job or doing any business-related stuff. It’s probably been a few years.

So this weekend, in the middle of the busy season right before our final big push in the year, we’re going camping.

I’m vowing not to do any work and to simply enjoy my family and make sweet memories.

This is SO important. I cannot stress it enough.

What are your priorities? Does your calendar reflect that?

This is me giving you full permission to take at least one full day off.

In fact, I challenge you to take 2 or more days off in a row.

I promise it won’t put you out of business, and if anything you’ll come back more refreshed than ever.

So right now, open up your calendar, and pencil in some time off. When a client asks if you’re available that day, simply say no. Do not explain why. When that day comes and you’re swamped with a to-do list a mile long, ignore it.

Go play. Go live life. Get out from behind your screen and enjoy it. Your business will be waiting for you when you come back, and you’ll be more better off because of it.
